One of the goals I set for myself in 2019 was to read more books. Both fiction and non-fiction. Just for fun and personal development or business books. I’m proud of how I did on this goal. Depending on what I had on the calendar that month, I set a goal to read one or two books per month.

I love to read. I’ve loved to read since I was a little girl. I wanted to become an author- so I wrote a book! But since having two small children and becoming a work at home mom, I rarely made time to read.

This year I changed all that and here is my list of books read along with my personal ratings- 5 stars being the best.

The list is in the order that I read them. The order is entirely dictated by the Dallas Public Library System. I put all the titles I want on hold and then read them as they become available. I was on the list for “Where the Crawdads Sing” for over 8 months! I choose to read real books that I can hold in my hands even though the library books are often hardbacks and heavy to carry around. Why? Because I read in front of my kids all the time. I especially like to sit on the porch and read while they play outside. If I was using an e-reader or book app, it would just look like I was using another screen to them. For me, it’s important to demonstrate my love of reading real books to my girls. That’s just my opinion and how I like to do things. 🙂

We have a goal settting workshop coming up that is really focused on your child(ren) and includes behavior tools to help you reach those goals. But don’t forget to set goals for yourself, too. Don’t let the busy-ness of your mommy job cause you to forget what you used to really enjoy. Instead, set a goal to make time for it!
