The New York Times wrote a great article on how kids can overcome the symptoms of autism with early intervention- particularly research based interventions, specifically APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS. What a novel idea! We ABA nerds know full well that EIBI is the way to go, but it’s nice to see the general public being informed of the same thing.
I have one teeny bone to pick with the article. They cite Lovaas as “the pioneer of ABA” and make no mention of Skinner. Oh well. At least the world is being made more aware of the importance of early intensive behavioral interventions!

I had a similar experience. When I came across the NY Times article I thought it’s about time ABA gets mentioned! Then I read their history of ABA and was disheartened because they obviously didn’t do their research. I suppose we should only see it as a positive that we were listed as an effective treatment in a national paper. Thanks for sharing!
